Help! I’m on a spending ban!
March is a no spend month for me and so far it’s going pretty well. I was feeling the pinch after Christmas so decided to save the pennies this month giving myself the challenge not to spend anything on clothes until April. I’m pretty proud I’ve made it this far without the odd purchase, but man, is it hard not too look. With spring summer approaching I have seen lots of new trends popping up online and in stores and am itching to get spending. Luckily Asos have a handy favourite button and it’s safe to say that I have saved half the bloody site on there over the past month.
I quiet like not having the temptation to buy things straight away, it means I have more time to plan and decide if I actually need the bits I am saving. No spontaneous buying stuff I might not wear.
Here’s my pick of the latest trends for spring/summer and some key pieces I’ll be investing in post spending ban…
Polka Dot Dress
I am a big fan of polka dots as they are such a versatile and easy to wear print. Similar to stripes and leopard print, polka dots come and go each season but will always be great wardrobe staple you can be sure to bring out again and again each year. They are everywhere this spring, from cute tea dresses to blazers and trousers. I have my eye on this amazing polka dot midi from Asos which is my style down to a T, and I think it would look great pair down with converse or style up with red ankle boots for a killer evening vibe. If you love a jumpsuit as much as I do, this Missguided two piece is the perfect polka dot pair.
Coloured blazer
Suits have been a staple this past autumn/winter and the trend for a two piece is set to continue throughout the warmer months. I’ve been seeing this River Island yellow blazer everywhere recently and couldn’t resist adding to my favourites. Yellow is the perfect summer colour and makes a big impact in a structured blazer form. I’d wear this with a simple slogan tee and wide leg trousers for a cool comfortable look. If yellow isn’t your thing, try other warm sunset tones such as blush pink or popping orange. Both look amazing together as a two piece or on their own styled with jeans.
Round bags
Round bags are everywhere this season and I’m all for it! I have been eyeing up this pale pink number from Pimkie on Asos for a while, and it’s defo going to be the first thing on my list come April. I love across body bags for a laid back day looks and the round bag is the perfect spring update. I have been crushing on round bags ever since I saw Kate La Vie wearing her Mansur Gavriel number on Instagram. Oh the dream… Luckily there’s plenty of affordable ones on the highstreet at the moment, check out Primark, who have some beauties for a fraction of the cost.
White Blouse
This is one I have been searching for a while, a white blouse is a good investment piece for any season but there seems to be so many pretty styles on the shelves this spring. I am all about the frills, ruffled sleeves and high necks this season, and this Boohoo blouse ticks all the boxes. I think this would be a good wardrobe staple for work wear paired with pencil trousers or dressed up for a night out with jeans.
Wide Leg Cropped Jeans
As a true skinny jean lover, who knew, a pair of wide legged jeans would ever be on my wish list but here they are. Ever since I saw Sophie Milner trying on these Topshop pair in one of her Vlogs, I knew I needed some. Not only do they look super comfy but I think they would go with so many outfits. Trainers or boots, tshirts or blouses you name it, these jeans will make it. They are the perfect spring/summer jean as they aren’t as restrictive or tight as skinnies so will be cooler as the weather starts to warm up.
